The Joyful Company of Singers is committed to performing a wide and challenging repertoire of choral works from the 16th to 21st centuries.
Formed in 1988 by conductor Peter Broadbent MBE, the choir first came to prominence when JCS won Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year competition and have since won an impressive list of national and international competitions.
JCS will be touring North Northumberland next month, performing in St Mary’s Church, Wooler on Saturday 4th May and St Paul’s RC Church, Alnwick on Sunday 5th May 2024. Both programmes are related but different, with themes that feature life’s transitions.
The Alnwick concert will also include readings by local poet Katrina Porteous.
In the afternoon of both days, JCS shall be giving a short ‘taster’ concerts on 4th May in the ‘minstrels' gallery’ in Ad Gefrin, the new Anglo-Saxon museum and Whisky Distillery in Wooler; and on 5th May at The Alnwick Gardens.
